Top Solo Travel Destination Puerto Rico Old San Juan: Why go there? It’s only a short trip from North America with lots to see and do from its historic past to 21st century vibrant beat. It has a range of prices and types of trips. You can have an adventure or just relax on the beach. You can have an ecotour or wildlife “safari”.
Beyond the beach, there are lots of things to do and places to see. Here are just some of those:

My very top choice is Old San Juan. La Terraza is very popular with solos! You will have the colonial style and be a few steps from lots of cafes and tourist sights.
La Terraza is in the heart of the old town, Old San Juan. While in the midst of history, it is just a short walk to the beach. From the roof, you san see both the San Juan Bay and Old San Juan. When you book, if you like, ask for the rooms with a full kitchen. (There is an on-site restaurant as well.)
This property is a 9-minute walk from the beach. This downtown boutique is decorated in 19th-century Colonial style. Private bedrooms, a separate living room and 2 bathrooms are included in each apartment. A plasma cable TV and washing machine/dryer are included. Every apartment is uniquely styled in pastel colors and has tile floors.
La Terraza de San Juan features handmade Latin American Indian lamps and religious-themed stained glass panels. Free Wi-Fi is offered and the concierge desk can arrange island tours and in-room massages.
La Terraza is one mile from Fort San Felipe del Morro. Santa Catalina Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is less than half a mile from the hotel. Ocean Park is 10 minutes away by car.
Old San Juan is a great choice for travelers interested in history, walking and city walks.
