Castle hotels are always at the top of my list for charming places to stay and often save in Europe. Why is that? They tend to be in the country away from the high city prices. Most have Old World style with new 20-21st century updates. France and Germany lead the way. However, Italy too has many castle hotels. Here are five to try from as low as $97 to a luxury option at $281. Pricing varies daily. We used May 2017 as a starting point. As is always the case, you will find the best prices outside of the high summer tourist months of June-August. Be sure to check for your dates as to what is available.
Agriturismo Castello La Grancia di Spedaletto starts at $97 May 2017.
As its name shows, it is truly in the country. This favorite comes with great prices and more chances to try local olive oil and wine.
You will start the day with a continental breakfast included in this low, low price.
You will then step back into history. The Agriturismo Castello was built in the 12th-century but has been updated starting with free Wi-Fi and an outdoor swimming pool.
