Solo Travel Destination 5 Star SE Asia: One of my very favorite trips. The prices were low for the high quality of service and luxury.
Things to see and do:
My recommendation: Join a Mekong Delta cruise ending in Vietnam. After the cruise, I added on an independent solo travel package in Bangkok.
The Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra:
I had a great stay here at the 5 star Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra. It is located in Siem Reap, the perfect launch point for independent visits to Angkor Wat or for river cruises on the Mekong Delta. Impeccable service (24 hour room service) and well-manicured grounds await you. Guest rooms are spacious with an attractive mix of French and Khmer design. These air conditioned guest rooms have a tea and coffee maker and satellite TV. Bathrooms have a bathtub and shower, toiletries and comfortable bathrobe.
Having arrived right after Christmas, I was pleased to learn that English was widely spoken, and the US dollar was easily accepted. The swimming pool with swim-up bar was welcome at the end of each day. The good news however? It was not uncomfortably hot in December and January.
Golf enthusiasts can play the 18-hole course. The spa offers massages and treatments to help guests relax.
Angkor Wat is just 10 minutes away. Frequent large tours can be arranged. Alternatively, I had a great success having a private taxi day tour with Phao Lem whom I met through the local airport taxi. See www.CambodiaTour.Guide.
The Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra offers guests a wide variety of dining options. They range from French-Khmer fusion to international cuisines.
