Take this trip of a lifetime on the Mekong River and see Cambodia and Vietnam while gliding along one of the world’s longest rivers. Over 2,700 miles in length, it starts high up in the Tibetan highlands. It ends in Vietnam in an extensive delta near Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City before ultimately emptying into the South China Sea.

After a visit to Chong Koh with its silk weaving, you will arrive in the modern-day capital of PhnomPenh.
Day 4 | Phnom Penh.
This is a great place for shopping where jewelry and silk fabrics are less expensive than Thailand. However, do have a trusted jewelry store with a certificate of authenticy be your destination. As I quickly discovered look both ways not just crossing the streets but also the sidewalks!
There is a mix of French colonial architecture, sidewalk cafes and nighttime activity or just stroll along the riverfront. You can tour the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the National Museum.
Day 5 | Phnom Penh. Border Crossing. Tan Chau, Vietnam.
You will cross from Cambodia into Vietnam and tour a small town Tan Chau, Vietnam.
Day 6 | Tan Chau. Sa Dec.
Time to weave through narrow waterways to an evergreen island and local markets. Ready for an “adventure”? Go for a ride in a traditional “xe-loi” (trishaw) before moving on to overnight in Sa Dec.
Day 7 | Sa Dec. Xeo Quyt. Cai Be.
The highlight of the day will be a trip to the local markets teaming with activity and a tour of the “Love House”. The latter was made famous by Marguerite Duras, a French writer recounting her youthful then-forbidden love affair with her Chinese paramour. After a stop at local markets, you will be ready to return to the ship.
Day 8 | Depart Ho Chi Minh City. Transfer to the airport for your homeward flight. (B)
