Day 4-Dec.25: Plitvice Lakes National Park: 16 lakes make up this UNESCO World Heritage site. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.)
Day 5-Dec.26: Plitvice Lakes National Park- Zadar: a coastal city. Fabled film maker Alfred Hitchcock described Zadar as having one of the world’s most beautiful sunsets. It is surrounded by old city walls and filled with Roman-style marble streets mixing ancient and modern architecture. Highlights include the Roman forum and the St. Donatus Church. A big natural attraction is called the Sea Organs. This natural phenomenon “plays” a serenade as the sounds of the sea reverberate. The day ends with dinner in the Old City. Day 6-Dec.27: Zadar – Biograd na Moru: Known as the “white town on the sea”. This was an ancient national capital. Its rulers have ranged from Venetians to Crusaders, Knights Templar and Romans. This small town has an old stone center along the coast. (Breakfast and Dinner included.)
Day 7-Dec.28: Biograd – Trogir: a UNESCO World Heritage site. This 2,300 year old charming city is also made of stone with few more recent buildings. Highlights include the ancient fort, the local markets, the hill top bell tower and the city square. (Breakfast and Dinner included.)
Day 8-Dec.29: Trogir – Split: The second largest city in the country. It is also the largest on the Adriatic Coast. The Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 3rd century lived the last year of his life in his palace in the adjacent port of Asphalatos. This UNESCO World Heritage site can still be seen in the Old Town. This giant complex today has 220 buildings, many of which have been converted to cafes and shops. (Breakfast and Dinner included.)
Day 9-Dec.30: split – Dubrovnik: You will start the day going down the “ Makarska Riviera” before you get to Dubrovnik. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included.)
Day 10-Dec. 31: Dubrovnik (New Year’s eve): Dubrovnik is Croatia’s most famous city. Called the “Pearl of the Adriatic”, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights will include a Franciscan monastery, the Stradun or main street, the Renaissance Sponza Palace and the still standing city walls. There will be a New Year’s Eve celebration plus fireworks and concerts. (Breakfast and Dinner included.)
Day 11-Jan. 1: Dubrovnik (New Year’s Day): A day at leisure followed by a farewell dinner at a local traditional tavern or Konoba. (Breakfast and Dinner included.)
Day 12-Jan. 2: Dubrovnik: End of tour after breakfast after time still for some sightseeing and shopping. (Breakfast included.)
