Adventure Vacations Great Barrier Reef: A real value for a true adventure vacation! This was one of my best trips ever. Australia was different enough from North America to be interesting but similar enough to be very easy to navigate!
Things to do and see:
I recommend combining a trip to the Reef with a tour in Sydney and Melbourne. From Melbourne, it was an easy day trip along the Great Ocean Road. Another top option was an extended day tour to Philip Island. Every night 1,000 to 2,000 penguins return home to their nests on “rafts”. Tourists can walk along side them just after sunset on a low boardwalk. Somehow in the crowd, each penguin was able to identify its own nest.
The Shangri-La:
The Shangri-LA Cairns is one of Australia’s very top 5 star hotels.
Luxury guest rooms have free WIFI, flat-screen satellite TV and laptop safe plus minibar. Relax in a plush robes and slippers. Each room has its own balcony overlooking lovely tropical grounds, the Bay or Marina.
Guests also have access to the fitness center and several dining options from North Food and Wine with dishes ranging from Modern Australian to Mediterranean and Asian flavors or lighter fare at the Poolside Bar.
The Shangri-LA is near to the launch point for the Great Barrier Reef just a 3 minute walk to the Terminal. Divers and snorkelers will enjoy an array of marine life at the Great Barrier Reef or take a spin in the small tourist submarine.
Take advantage of excellent pricing in Australia, a favorable climate and warm and welcoming hospitality.
