Things to do and see:
Budapest has many of the expected sights in Europe. They start with an ornate Opera House, castle/Castle Hill and imposing cathedrals. However, the real gem is the Gothic Parliament on the banks of the Danube. You can take a stroll over the Chain Bridge that connects Buda with Pest. Go on a Danube day cruise. Stroll down Andrassy Avenue.
I highly recommend taking the commuter train to the fabled Abbey of Melk. I arrived just in time for a free impromptu concert by a visiting US group.

The Corinthia Budapest Hotel:
I fell in love with this elegant hotel. I arrived one cold November day. Service was fantastic.
Formerly the Grand Hotel Royal, was this the inspiration for the Grand Budapest Hotel? We think so! One of our favorite hotels in the world, the Corinthia Budapest is in the heart of one of Europe’s most historic, culturally-rich cities. You can stroll to the nearby Opera House and take a tour of the Parliament, an architectural jewel on the Danube’s edge.
The newly updated Royal Spa provides a broad range of treatments. You can start with a steam bath or even a mud bath. Alternatively, enjoy a sauna or work out in the plus a fitness room. The spacious, chic air-conditioned guest rooms have flat-screen satellite TV and free Wi-Fi. Multiple options for fine dining include Hungarian, Asian and international cuisine.
This was true luxury. I recommend the well-priced upgrade to the Executive Floor. You will find that Central and Eastern Europe is a real value.
