Solo Trekker’s New Free Solo Travel Pricing Tracker Software: Solo Trekker’s New Free Solo Travel Pricing Software :Solo Trekker 4 U was founded to give individual travelers better pricing options without giving up quality. We have built out a growing network of pre-screened top travel providers that have no to low single supplements.  Of course, with most travel services still priced for doubles/pairs, the single supplement still makes it harder for solos to see the world. To make matters worse, popular “2-for-the price-of-1” promotions can leave single travelers paying 3 times more if the single supplement is 50%.

Solo Trekker’s New Free Solo Travel Pricing Tracker Software: What’s the Need?

The good news is that more tour and cruise operators are offering reduced or no single supplement offerings. The challenge? Previously, search engines were little help for several reasons. 1. If you searched for a destination, published prices were still based on two. 2. If single supplement prices were listed, the solo traveler would need to compute what percentage surcharge existed. 3. Some travel offerings have no single supplement information but require a second step for individual travelers to make a request for such prices.  4. As a result, even if there were reduced rate single supplement offerings, solo travelers have had to work to identify the best options.

Solo Trekker’s New Free Solo Travel Pricing Tracker Software: The Background:

:

Over the last six months, we have been developing an exciting new US Patent-Pending software tool to give solo travelers a better and easier way to identify, access and compare their options. We created a proprietary database primarily in English but with a limited number of providers in Spanish, French and German.  With our user-friendly software, the “Solo Travel Pricing Tracker”, a traveler can do a combined search as to: global destinations, 15 types of tours/trips and 5 solo pricing methods.  With just under 900 providers with over 20,000 tours, the varied offerings range from adventure travel to faith-based journeys and from younger travelers to seniors and from sedate cultural/historic tours to active sports trips.

Solo Trekker’s New Free Solo Travel Pricing Tracker Software: How Does it Track Solo Pricing?

The five solo travel pricing methods include:

  1. No single supplement specials
  2. Lower or reduced single supplements
  3. Sharing to avoid a single supplement
  4. Solo-priced lodging or on cruises, staterooms
  5. Single parent offerings

We started our research with approximately 1,021 sources that we identified from our existing relationships, multiple search engines and other public information sources. We looked for those that had previously offered trips for solos or had pricing that might include no to low single supplements or sharing. We retained those that in our opinion might be a good fit for individual travelers when we reviewed the pricing method and options available. Our goal was to find those generally with single supplements of 30% or even 25% or less. Some we identified were closer to 10%!  There are a very few select providers we included with 30-35% as a single supplement. We did not intentionally include providers with deals that as a practice or trend had higher single supplements. For example, we saw one cruise line where they had a 100% surcharge for solo travelers reduced to 50%.  We excluded them as too high although they features such single supplements from time to time as specials. However, there are a number of considerations.

Solo Trekker’s New Free Solo Travel Pricing Tracker Software: No to Low Single Supplements:

Option One: No single supplement deals: These always must be booked far in advance as there are generally only a few spots available. Those which have offered no single supplements specials in the past may discontinue or limit that practice in the future.

Option Two: Low single supplements: These were most often linked to the price of lodging and therefore varied for each trip. We included providers that had enough published data, or made available to us enough information, that we could see from a random sample that their pricing for solo travelers met our criteria. We looked at a sampling of the providers’ solo pricing trends in comparison with those traveling in pairs. Nonetheless, some destinations or types of specialty tours/trips will exceed our estimated percentages. For example, a high-end luxury cruise in the polar regions may be offered by the same tour operator which has affordable green season safaris.  As with the no single supplement offerings, low, or lower, single supplement offerings can change at any time as lodging  and other  underlying costs increase. In such cases, that may mean that we add and delete listings over time.

Solo Trekker’s New Free Solo Travel Pricing Tracker Software: Ways to Avoid a Single Supplement:

Option Three:

Sharing to avoid a single supplement: We worked to include only those that offered or allowed solos the opportunity to share lodging (a tent?) with a fellow traveler to avoid paying a single supplement. Not every traveler wants this option, but where available, it is a cost savings. With each tour, it is important to check the terms and conditions. In some cases, there was an online forum where solos could take the initiative themselves to match up with a fellow traveler on the same tour. In others, the tour operator would try to match same gender solos looking to share.  Absent a successful share, in some cases solos then had to pay the full or a reduced single supplement. In other cases, it was waived.

Solo Trekker’s New Free Solo Travel Pricing Tracker Software: Booking Your Own Space:

Option Four:  Solo priced rooms and on cruises, staterooms: These are most often seen in Europe. In any case, when looking for best pricing, always remember that the default online is one room for double occupancy. You must click the icon or drop-down menu, to change two travelers to one. Look carefully to see if the offering is for a “single” room or a standard or double room for solo occupancy. Be sure to check the size of the room and compare it with the savings. Don’t just assume that luxury properties will not have single occupancy rooms. The world-renowned Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden offers rooms for solos. Our targeted goal was to list a sampling of such properties where there was at least a 10% savings. We did find some discounts of 30-40%. However, since prices change all day long every day, this will vary. For additional lodging options from budget to luxury offerings, go back to our home page, and enter your destinations and dates in our booking engine. There are over 800,000 properties. Be sure to look for pricing for one and read the solo travel reviews.

Solo Trekker’s New Free Solo Travel Pricing Tracker Software: From Europe Something New:

Option Five: Single parent deals: This was a very active method of pricing in many European deals. They were typically based on pricing for those accompanied by a child. Other tours were made up of single parents looking to travel with those similarly situated apparently whether accompanied by one or more children or not.

Watch for updates!

Our Solo Travel Pricing Tracker is intended as a better means to sort through the 30+ million offerings that can be found on even one destination. Unfortunately, there is no “magic bullet” that solves the pricing differential that solos pay. However, our goal is to provide a user-friendly and easier way to find, and access, solo travel deals than currently exists among the millions of general travel offerings available.

Update:

We launched our Solo Travel Pricing Tracker in the fall. Please also visit our Solo Trekker 4 U website often for  solo travel deals and tips on traveling alone. In addition, while you are there, you can subscribe to our free newsletter for updates in the interim.
