Solo Travelers and Wedding Season

One solo traveler’s view: A guest post on wedding season:
Listen, weddings are fine, and fun. Whether you are a 20 something or 40 something single, they can be a blast! They’re a reason to get dressed up, drink free booze, and often (if you like to cut a rug) dancing is involved. But when you’re single, it’s hard not to see them as one big reminder that you, yourself, are nowhere near experiencing your own alleged day of magic, or maybe it has passed. They can start to take a mental toll on you, especially if you have not one but many to attend over a short period of time. Well, change the narrative, you are free! Use it as a confidence booster, it will only help you in your travels!
1. Only go to the weddings you receive a save-the-date for.
If you didn’t receive a save-the-date, but you get an invitation a month or less before the event, chances are that means you’re not on the bride or groom’s A-list. Which also means you’re under no obligation to show up.
2. Take advantage of destination weddings!
No pressure, but think about how you can kill a couple birds with one stone! Bali, YEP. Cross these destinations off your bucket list and soak in the culture!
3. Don’t go to weddings expecting to find your soul mate.
It’s a rather common trope that single women and men head into weddings with the idea that they’re going to meet their person there. Don’t be delirious.
