Holiday Solo Travel Destinations-Argentina: Side Trips:
Take a day trip to Uruguay:
With a short trip of 1.5 hours, you can see two countries during one trip! The top two choices are the capital, Montevideo and the tourist haven of Colonia del Sacramento. Montevideo is a busy city with chic shops and multiple cafes. In contrast, Colonia as it is known locally is a UNESCO World Heritage site dating to the 17th century Portuguese settlement.
Go Boating at Tierra del Fuego: I find one fun thing about trips south of the equator is having a second shot at summer. There is plenty of sunshine and a chance for water sports at year’s end.
Head south to Ushuaia where Argentina extends to the southern most populated point in the continent. (Chile has long disputed this fact.)
Go hiking and boating in the December-January sunshine.
Sail around the Cape Horn.
For a really big adventure, cross the Drake Passage to Antarctica.
Explore Patagonia:
Shared by Chile and Argentina, the region has grasslands, desert and snow-capped mountains. It’s the world’s only land of three oceans: the Atlantic, Pacific and South oceans. See more at Patagonia-Argentina.com.

Fun and Odd New Year’s Facts:
Planning the holidays in Greenland? You may want to read the menu first! Two known treats for the season are Mattak (whale skin with blubber inside) and Kiviak (raw flesh of an Arctic bird which has been allowed to decompose)!
